Repository or branch not listed

Troubleshoot missing repositories and branches in BoldCreate provider pickers.

Problem summary

When you start a new thread, you pick a repository and branch, or an environment, above the prompt box. Sometimes the item you expect is not in the list. You may see:

  • No repositories under Repositories.
  • No branches found in the branch list.
  • No ready environments under Environments.
  • The hint Connect a Git provider to use this repository. below the composer.
  • An error from your Git provider, such as a rate limit or access message.

Possible causes

  • The wrong Git provider is selected: the list shows repositories from one connected provider at a time.
  • The provider is not connected, or its connection stopped working.
  • Your Git account can’t access the repository: Bold Create lists only repositories your connected account can access.
  • Your organization in the Git provider restricts third-party access and has not approved Bold Create.
  • The item is further down the list: long lists load in pages.
  • The environment is not ready, or not shared with you.

Resolution steps

Step 1: Check the Git provider

  1. In the sidebar, select New task.
  2. Look at the Git provider button above the prompt box, for example GitHub.
  3. If you connected more than one provider, select the button and choose the provider that hosts the repository under Git provider. The Repository or environment list now shows repositories from that provider. If the hint Connect a Git provider to use this repository. appears, the repository’s provider is not connected. Go to Integrations and connect it. See Integrations overview.

Step 2: Check the connection

  1. In the sidebar, select Integrations.
  2. Find the provider under Source Control.
  • If it shows Connect, the connection is missing or stopped working. Connect it again.
  • If it shows Connected, the connection is active. Continue to the next step. If the connection expired or was revoked, see Integration token expired or revoked.

Step 3: Search for the repository

  1. Select Repository or environment.
  2. Type part of the repository name in Search repositories and environments…. Bold Create searches your Git provider, not only the repositories already shown.
  3. If you don’t search, scroll to the bottom of the list, or select Load more repositories, to load the next page. Search by the repository name, for example sample-app. You can also include the owner, for example your-org/sample-app.

Step 4: Check your access in the Git provider

Bold Create sees the same repositories as the account you connected. Sign in to your Git provider with that account and check that you can open the repository.

ProviderRepositories Bold Create lists
GitHubRepositories your account owns, collaborates on, or can access as an organization member.
GitLabProjects your account is a member of.
GiteaRepositories your account can access on the connected server.

If you can’t open the repository, ask the repository owner or an admin to give your account access. To let the agent push its branch and open pull requests, your account needs write access.

Step 5: Check organization approval (GitHub)

If the repository belongs to a GitHub organization that restricts third-party application access, its repositories don’t appear until an organization owner approves Bold Create.

  1. In GitHub, open your account settings and the list of applications you have authorized.
  2. Open Bold Create and request access for the organization.
  3. Ask an organization owner to approve the request.
  4. Return to Bold Create and open the repository picker again. If your organization uses SAML single sign-on, you may also need to authorize the connection for that organization.

Branch not listed

The branch list shows the branches of the selected repository.

  1. Select the branch button, for example Branch: main.
  2. Type part of the branch name in Search branches….
  3. If you see No branches found, check the name you typed, then clear the search.
  4. Scroll down, or select Load more branches, to load more branches. If a branch was pushed a moment ago, close the list and open it again. If it is still missing, check that it exists in your Git provider. The branch button is shown only for repositories. When you pick an environment, its branches come from the environment’s settings.

Environment not listed

The Environments section lists only environments that:

  • Have the Ready status. Environments that are Pending, Building, or Failed are not listed.
  • You created, or that are shared with your team or organization. If you see No ready environments:
  1. In the sidebar, select Environments.
  2. Find the environment and check its status.
  • Building: wait for the build to finish.
  • Failed: see Environment build failed.
  • Pending: open it and select Build.
  1. If you can’t find it at all, ask its creator to share it with your team or organization.
